Another giant step forward for the Owego Free Academy girls volleyball team as they travelled this past Sunday to SUNY New Paltz and defeated Spackenkill to win the Class B Regional Championship and secure their spot in the NYSPHSAA State Tournament.  Owego's ball control and defense, coupled with their strong and balanced offensive attack which is led by their co-captains senior outside hitter Brinn Shaughnessy, junior setter Grace Thomas, and senior libero McKenzie Hart, has propelled Owego to an undefeated season.  A perennial powerhouse in Section 4, Owego has proven that they are the team to beat.

The Indians travel to Glens Falls this weekend to compete with Hudson Falls, John Glenn, and Cazenovia in the afternoon wave of the state tournament.  They kick off the tournament playing against Hudson Falls at 3pm at Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls NY.

Head coach Britney Race,  assistant coaches Breanna Horton, Pam Horton, Erica Darpino, and Kayla Snyder as well as many of the players from the Owego volleyball program are members of our Whirlwind family and we wish them the best of luck this weekend at the tournament.
